Idea validation for founders
Find out who needs your idea before you build it
Wantmeter asks people about your idea in a Mom Test style questionnaire: each next question follows their answers so far. Every answer counts, even when nobody presses send.

Everything a person does counts, even leaving
Answers about what people did
Questions ask about past behaviour, not opinions about your idea, as The Mom Test teaches. Polite compliments do not count as need.
No send button needed
Each answer counts the moment it is given. A person who closes the tab halfway still tells you something.
Changes of mind
Every changed answer with its old and new value, and when it changed.
Hesitation and pauses
How long a person rested on each option, and when they left the page and came back. Recorded only when the person allows it.
The point where they got bored
The question where a person stopped is a signal too: it shows where the idea, or the interview, lost them.
Who needs it, in what form
For each idea Wantmeter counts how many people have the problem and which form of the solution each of them needs.
How it works
Describe the idea and your questions
Write the questions you would ask in an interview as a question tree: an answer decides which question comes next.
Each person gets their own interview
The next question comes from your tree, or an AI model writes it on the fly from the answers so far, like the Akinator guessing game.
Read the result in Notion
Answers and journeys in a Notion database, a ready conclusion for each idea, and a picture of each person's journey.
Interview calls, survey forms and Wantmeter
Interview calls show real need but take an hour per person. Survey forms reach many people but ask everyone a list written in advance. Wantmeter asks many people one adaptive interview each.
| What | Interview calls | Survey forms | Wantmeter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Next question follows the answers | Yes, the interviewer decides | Only branches set up in advance | Yes: your tree and AI-written questions |
| People at once | One per call | Many | Many |
| Counts a person who never pressed send | Not applicable | Usually not | Yes |
| Hesitation and changed answers | Only in the interviewer's notes | No | Yes, recorded |
| A conclusion per idea | You write it from your notes | You read the results yourself | Ready in Notion |
Approaches in general, not particular products.
Who it is for
Founders who validate before they build
Test whether people have the problem before you spend months on a product, and learn in what form they need the fix.
Makers with several ideas
Run one interview per idea and compare who needs which, instead of choosing by gut feeling.
People who work in Notion
Answers, journeys and conclusions sit in a Notion database next to the rest of your notes.
First-party by design
Every event is recorded by Wantmeter's own script and sent only to Wantmeter's own server. The page loads no analytics, advertising or session-recording service.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec, hesitation and interviews left unsent are recorded only after the person accepts. Text a person types is never part of the journey. Privacy policy
Questions and answers
What is idea validation?
Checking that people need a product before you build it: who has the problem, how they deal with it today and what form of solution they would use. Wantmeter does this with interviews in the style of The Mom Test, asked as a questionnaire.
What is The Mom Test?
A book by Rob Fitzpatrick about customer interviews. Its rule: ask people about their life and what they did in the past, not about your idea, because people are polite about ideas. Wantmeter's questions follow that rule.
How does the questionnaire choose the next question?
In two ways. You write a question tree, where an answer decides which question comes next. And an AI model writes new questions on the fly from the answers so far, like the Akinator guessing game, so each person walks their own path.
Does a person have to finish and send it?
No. Each answer counts as soon as it is given. Changes of mind, pauses and the question where a person got bored and left are data too. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec an interview left unsent is recorded only after the person accepts.
What do I get after the interviews?
Three things: the answers and journeys in a Notion database, one row per person; a ready conclusion for each idea, saying who needs it, in what form and what is still unclear; and a picture of each person's journey on a time axis.
How is it different from Typeform or Google Forms?
Survey forms ask questions written in advance, with branches you set up yourself, and are built around the answers a person sends. Wantmeter picks each next question from the answers so far, counts people who never press send, and turns it all into a conclusion for each idea.
Do respondents know what is recorded?
Yes. A banner says what is recorded, and in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec hesitation and interviews left unsent are recorded only after the person accepts. Typed text is never part of the journey.
